In our culminating Metaphorming Workshop, we once again explored the focal question: "create a symbolic model that shows how you think the arts can be integrated into science education to spark a creative and innovative STEM workforce."  It was a beautiful day outside under the tents at CALIT2.

For more on Dr. Siler's methods see his article, "Metaphorming and the Art of Science Learning."

... physical representations can lead to a deeper analysis of metaphorical relationships, which could lead to real-world solutions to intractable problems

The creativity that came out of collaborations with diverse participants was awesome

The in-depth look at several examples was enlightening

This group was scientists and artists and educators and each had very unique ways of approching the problem

This concept is very congruent with my experience of creative writing, in which a sure footed unconscious sometimes supplies new words, new metaphors to describe and understand the world
