Shaping the 21st-Century Workforce
The Art of Science Learning is a national initiative that uses the arts to spark creativity in science education and the development of an innovative 21st Century STEM workforce.
The NSF recently awarded The Art of Science Learning Phase 2 a $2.6 million grant. Harvey Seifter, The Art of Science Learning’s founder/director, is the project’s director and principal investigator.
Over the next four years, this grant will support the development of:
A curriculum that uses arts-based learning to teach innovation to cross-disciplinary and multi-generational teams;
Arts-based incubators for STEM innovation at San Diego’s Balboa Park Cultural Partnership, Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry and Worcester’s EcoTarium;
Experimental research to measure the impact of arts-based learning on the creativity, collaborative behavior and innovation outputs of STEM learners;
A traveling exhibition, to reach national audiences with compelling stories about creativity at the intersection of art, science and learning.
Balboa Park Cultural Partnership is the project’s national administrative sponsor.
