Martha Aimé Cardona has a rich film/science background and is passionate about making connections between science and art. She began her career as a wildlife biologist. While pursuing her Master’s degree in Biology at Humboldt State University, she joined the California Environmental Legacy Project and switched the focus of her thesis work to a project in natural history filmmaking, becoming the first student to do so within the Biology Department. By becoming a filmmaker she hoped to develop media to better connect people with science. She has since produced short independent films, which include science videos for The United States Geological Survey and the California Environmental Legacy Project.

She has also worked for the Media Arts Center San Diego in video production, event planning, public relations, and development–primarily for the San Diego Latino Film Festival. Martha has provided project management services to a number of art and science initiatives, demonstrating an impressive ability to plan and execute complex projects.
